Tim Howard and Everton finally put an end to their four-game winless skid, and they did so in dramatic fashion.
Everton pulled off a late comeback against Tottenham on Sunday, grabbing a 2-1 victory after scoring twice in final moments. Steve Pienaar punished his former club and sparked the the Toffees’ rally with an equalizer in the 90th minute and Nikica Jelavic found the winner in stoppage time. Everton initially trailed in the match after Clint Dempsey, who is finding his feet with Spurs, beat Howard with a looping shot from distance for his third goal in league play this season.
Terrence Boyd was another player who found the back of the net on Sunday, scoring the winner in Rapid Vienna’s 2-1 triumph over FC Wacker Innsbruck. Boyd continued his recent good run of form by impressively connecting on a sliding volley, which gave him nine goals in league play and 13 across all competitions.
It was not all good news this weekend. Jermaine Jones set up a goal for Schalke for his third assist of the Bundesliga campaign (fourth in all competitions), but he was also sent off with a straight red in the 73rd minute of the club’s 3-1 loss to VfB Stuttgart. Jones made a tackle from behind that was deemed dangerous, and it resulted in the first straight red ejection of his career.

What do you think of these performances? Impressed with Howard and Everton’s win? Who’s in better form right now, Dempsey or Boyd? Surprised Jones’ straight red ejection this week was the first of his career?
Share your thoughts below.
Boyd – Dempsey: goal scorers. Can’t wait for qualifying
He was close last week, but now Boyd is in complete beast mode.
I want David Yelldell’s job.
Hey, remember when every one liked the Joe Gyau move and I said he should stick it out at Hoffenheim and every one mocked me? He still wouldn’t be playing, but least he wouldn’t be playing in the Bundesliga.
Hey remember when the Bobby Buchea (sp??) showed up at halftime and the Mud Dawgs came back and won the Bourbon Bowl? Despite awful performances by Dan Fouts and Brent Musburger by the way.
JA Brooks, Andrew Wooten, and now even Bobby Wood are now getting starts in the 2B unlike Joe Gyau, yet Gyau is the one who has been called up to our national team.
When will Klinsy take a look at any of the other three?
Wood has just come back from what his team said was a career ending injury. Please give him time.
Brooks looks to be Germany’s at the moment. Albeit, if we get a slight sniff of an opportunity, we should cap tie him now.
Wooten has been solid, but we have a core group and I think others have out performed him in his spot. He’ll get his chance in the summer.
Gyau is a very fast winger with an attacking threat. Which is exactly what we need. Klinsi has brought him once to see what he was made of and he didn’t make the bench. No harm, no foul.
Add an assist to Clay Goodson’s total on Brondby’s second goal.
After the 2014 WC the team should be built around Michael Bradley. he is our best player. It is known

Any Germany watchers know what’s up with Alfredo Morales’s riding the bench?
I thought Bradley was the player of the week. All over the field in Roma’s win.
Yea, he was unbelievable. Every time an attack was broken up in midfield, he was in the vicinity. Every break forward, he could be seen making a run. Unreal performance.
Falcao scored 5goals today. Amazing
unstoppable
So is Kljestan slowly working his way into more legitimate NATS contention? It’s hard to deny that he’s put together several progressively stronger seasons in Europe. Or, does the fact he’s starting and producing for a CL participant get trumped by the fact that “it’s only Beligium?” I actually think his patience is finally paying off.
Oh and, I’ve never forgotten that Gooch played his best football while in that league. He should have never gone to Milan. Might have been a smart money move, but it was a brick wall his career has yet to recover from.
Think Onyewu’s injury problems have had more to do with that, unfortunately.
+1. He likely would have gotten a few appearances here and there but the injury messed him up big time. And he was a Beast in Portugal but again injuries ruled him out for 2months and messed up his perfect season
PD,
Sacha’s return to the USMNT looks like it has more to do with him playing well in a slightly different role for Anderlecht and the unavailability and infectiveness of other US attacking midfield options, rather than any stunning epiphanies on JK’s part.
Can someone help me, I’m trying to understand why there’s such a movement for Klesjtan to get more playing time with the Nats. We are deep in central mid. How come there’s not the same movement for other players who aren’t getting playing time. Diskerkud plays on the top team in Norway, Bedoya plays on the top team in Sweden, Corona and Castillo play for the Mexican league winner and Boyd is tearing it up in Austria. All are getting little playing time however and don’t have fans astonished they’re aren’t getting enough.
I want the likes of Mix and Corona earning more time – and they are slowly. You have to remember they’re very young. Klesjtan has never performed for the US outside of playing against a third string Swedish side.
He just has never really brought it for the Nats in any capacity that screams “First off the bench.”
Well, Anderlecht (and Kljestan personally) has acquitted itself quite well in the UEFA CL group stage (much better than the Norwegian champion, for exmaple). In addition, Belgium is ranked a lot higher than Austria, Sweden, and Norway in UEFA Country Ranking.
Anderlecht finished last in their group.
Yes, but at least they made it to the group stage, which cannot be said for any Austrian, Norwegian, or Swedish teams. And Anderlecht earned 5 points in their group, more than Man City in theirs.
Reports that Liverpool are interested in Boyd. Not hard to see why either.

Google is your friend.
Boyd is having a great season.
What a beautiful goal by Boyd!!
Ives-are you not writing for Foxsccer anymore? I can’t find anything you’ve written there since September.

Nice assist by Jones, and his foul didn’t even look like a yellow to me.
Yeah that’s pretty harsh…
crazy to think a guy we all joke about for his massive yellow card collection has only been ejected on a straight red ONCE.
I think jones gets a bad wrap but really isn’t anywhere near as bad as people make him out to be
ditto
over the past two years he has been pretty consistent yellow card per game plus a suspension. That bad wrap is actually quite accurate.
If this is his first straight Red, then that would lead you to believe that his actions are somewhat under control. Maybe even calculated at most times. After all, he is playing all the time for a very strong side. Maybe, just maybe, the people at Schalke know a little bit more than the average blogger on this site. I’m just sayin’
What does the HQ stand for at the end of the clip name?
high quality
are the rumors of Jozy to Fiorentina true?
yes
(SBI-I’m only going to say this once. Stop linking to every random website on the web. We don’t allow that. Secondly, if you’re going to link to random websites, can you just save the trouble by linking to the original article from us? Think you might have missed it but SBI was the first to report on those teams being interested in Altidore:
http://www.soccerbyives.net/2012/11/rubin-kazan-among-teams-that-bid-for-altidore-last-summer.html )
not sure where the linking your are referencing. No links posted. Last I checked, this was a blog. Relax SBI……….
i think you’re getting the words “business” and “blog” confused. This is a BUSINESS, as in, a money making enterprise and linking elsewhere costs him page views, particularly since Ives was quick with the original information.
again, no links were posted….am I missing something?
I think everyone got mixed up. The first comment was about a rumored current bid this winter.
Ives is talking about a report they pulled together concerning them bidding during the summer.
Same team, different situations.
details?
Cherundolo has been at Hannover for 14years
Dempsey is finally looking like he belongs at Spurs
Seems this sentiment is shared by Spurs fans as well

That video shows it was 0-0 when Demp scored so what happened in the last 15 minutes?
Toffees snagged 2 stoppage time goals like 75 seconds apart… can’t say Everton didn’t deserve the 3 points but Spurs will be ruing this one for sure.
I thought it was a pretty even match myself. Everton might not have deserved to win, but you can’t really say they deserved to lose either. Possession was split 50/50 and Everton outshot them 13-6, with Tottenham having one more shot on goal Personally, i thought Everton looked more dangerous in the 2nd half, even before Dempsey’s deflected goal.
