While the rest of Europe’s top leagues are on winter break, the English Premier League remains in full swing and there are a handful of quality match-ups to enjoy this weekend.

Chelsea travels to Goodison Park to take on Everton in a battle between two of the current top five clubs in the Premiership. Everton is on a roll, having won three league matches in a row, and the Toffees now trail the Blues by just two points for the final automatic Champions League position. Chelsea, however, have enjoyed some of their best soccer of the season recently, scoring 14 goals in their last three games across all competitions.

In-form Tottenham Hotspur have the best shot at moving up with a win over Sunderland on Saturday. Spurs are only two points behind Chelsea for an automatic UEFA Champions League spot and have lost just once in their last seven matches to inch their way up the table. With Chelsea and Everton beating up on each other, Spurs can take advantage by earning all three points.

Table-toppers Manchester United have a potentially tough match on Saturday when they host West Bromwich Albion. United is well clear of the competition with 46 points, seven ahead of Manchester City, but West Brom has hung around the top six for the first half of the season and continues to do so, which makes them a test for a coasting United side. The Red Devils should have all three points at Old Trafford, but not without a fight against the sixth-placed Baggies.

Here are this weekend’s English Premier League matches:

Sunderland v Tottenham Hotspur

Aston Villa v Wigan Athletic

Fulham v Swansea City

Manchester United v West Bromwich Albion

Norwich City v Manchester City

Reading v West Ham United

Stoke City v Southampton

Arsenal v Newcastle

Everton v Chelsea

Queens Park Rangers v Liverpool

  1. I finally got my Fulham jersey yesterday. Hopefully it’s a good luck charm. Although playing at home against Swansea should be 3 points, you never know with that defense.

    • I’m waiting to see what they do in the winter window because they’ve gone off a cliff and it’s either going to get fixed with transfers or on present form it’s headed towards a relegation battle.

    • Which shirt did you get? Berbatov? I definitely want one of the pinstriped ones but I hate paying so much when they get completely new ones every year. I usually just go the knock off ebay way, i got the Dempsey’s the last 3 years that way.

As far as the window, I dont know who we will get. January buys are tough to come buy. I think we will get Palacios from Stoke, as he is out of favor, and possibly Huddlestone or Livermore from Spurs. Once Spurs get Parker back their minutes will all but disappear as they have already. Maybe Raul Garcia from Atletico, and Chadli and Douglas from Twente, but they are all playinng regularly, and Twente is in a title battle and won’t give up two of their best players. We definitely need a center back and probably as well, maybe the Forren from Molde (Gatt’e team) who we have been keeping tabs on.

    • I wish you were joking but you’re not.

Pretty sure they will rename the premier league, “Whatever Sir Alex says is right and everyone else is a numpty” league.

    • 4-3? For a top-table team they have an awful defense. Worst GA in the top 10. Also the best GF which is why they keep winning.

    • Yup that injury time of 9 MINS against newcastle that Fergie wanted when hernandez got the goal in the 90th minute. Yes that was exactly Fergies plan to keep the game going longer so newcastle could score then United could win it in the 99th min! If only the 4th official would have listened to Fergies badgering on the sidelines to let the game go on for just a few more mins then we could have the incredible 2 goal feat that would have happened! well sadly he has to settle for 3 points and a disappointment of only 9 mins of stoppage time.
