Selemani hat-trick inspires U.S. U-17s to win over Maccabi Haifa youth team

The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team defeated a Maccabi Haifa youth team on Tuesday, and Ahinga Selemani played a big part in making that happen.

Selemani scored a hat-trick to lead the U.S. past Maccabi Haifa, 3-2, at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla. Selemani scored twice in the first 14 minutes of the match, but his third goal in the 70th minute stood as the winner after Maccabi Haifi had pulled level with goals in the 22nd and 60th minutes.

The visitors had a big chance to tie the game again in the 78th minute, but U.S. goalkeeper Evan Louro stopped a penalty kick to ensure the Americans would come out on top.

What do you think of the U.S. winning 3-2? Impressed that Selemani scored a hat-trick?

  1. Great, now the team needs to play well in the next WC then I’ll determine whether they’ve improved, and whether or not our development is improving youth players.
