There will be no suspense regarding knockout round places in today’s UEFA Champions League action. Not with all eight spots already secured in the four groups in action today.
What is on the line today is positioning for the top seeds in each group, as well as Europa League places, which should be enough to generate some intense match-ups.
Manchester City is already eliminated from the knockout round, but a win against Borussia Dortmund coupled with an Ajax loss or tie against Real Madrid could help City clinch a Europa League place. That won’t come easy against a Dortmund side unbeaten in group play and eager to secure first place in the group.
Arsenal has secured passage to the Round of 16, but can avoid potentially brutal knockout round match-up by making up the one-point edge currently held by Schalke 04. Anderlecht also have Europa League aspirations, but will need to earn a result against an unbeaten Malaga side to get there.

Am I the only one who would love to see JK’s successor be JK (Juergen Klopp)?
The on-ball pressure is something I think our mids could do really well, and the never-say-die attitude matches our traditional style pretty well.
Not that it’ll happen, but still.
wow, poor quality from the BPL teams…
lol BPL
+1
haha, schwoops! *epl
Goooch is starting in his 3rd straight CL game. What do u say to that Haters?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
“Hi hater!”
What, u think ima let rational thought get in the way. I hate myself and my life too much.
hmmm funny how things work…..Gooch stuggled all game long and was at fault for the first goal.
I’m sure you will somehow turn it into someone “hating” on Gooch.
Hate is when a commenter states he’ll be watching from the bench, when in fact that was not case. So in a hurry to throw a jab, he/she couldnt be bothered to check roster today or the past few matches Boils down to stating untrue things as if fact. In this instance and in several others, has been the case.
What happened in Zagreb/Kiev? Play suspended after 10 min. Weather?
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
Got to love playing through the winter, right MLS fans?
I’m stunned that Malaga is leading their group, despite not paying their players. At least Onyewu can watch Kljestan from the bench.

The lineups here say Onyewu’s starting for Malaga today.
Maybe Malaga is hoping he’ll do what he did at AC Milan or whoever and return his paycheck.
Very strange — I was positive he wasn’t registered for this.
I read that also, for the first game after Onyewu joined Malaga. But he has played in several CL matches since then. Reviews on his performance are mixed.
How about Malaga out of nowhere this season–just trolling everyone. La Liga is so good right now it’s ridiculous.
Actually, Chelsea’s group is not decided yet!
Just kidding, this is only for today’s games…
Right, and Chelsea’s group isn’t playing today.
