They may be far apart in the Spanish League standings, but that won’t make the latest installment of the Barcelona-Real Madrid derby any less intriguing.

The Spanish giants meet on Wednesday in the week’s most high-profile match-up, with Barcelona riding high and Real Madrid enduring controversy amid reported tension in the locker room. Wednesday’s Copa Del Rey semifinal will offer Madrid a respite from the headlines and rumors, but only if they can find a way to slow down the seemingly unstoppable Catalans.

On the international front, the United States and Canada are not the only CONCACAF teams in action this week. Mexico will face off against Denmark at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. on Wednesday night, El Tri’s final tune-up before their World Cup qualifier versus Jamaica on Feb. 6. Mexico is missing some of their key players but they also have a number of their top domestic-based contributors available for selection, including goalkeeper Jose Corona and the well-experienced Carlos Salcido.

If you need some club soccer to satisfy your soccer cravings, then you will be hard-pressed to find a better week to do so. Along with the latest installment of Barcelona-Real Madrid, the English Premier League will feature a full slate of mid-week action, including Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool.
