Manchester City were delivered some unexpected good news on Wednesday morning, as captain Vincent Kompany’s red card from the 2-0 win at Arsenal last Sunday was rescinded by the English FA.
After the match, Manchester City launched an appeal, which successfully overturned the red card and three-match ban that came with it. The Belgian was shown a red card for a strong tackle on Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere in the 75th minute.
Kompany is now cleared to play in the Citizens next match this Saturday against Fulham.
Here are some other stories to get your Wednesday started:

River Plate are playing Boca Juniors in three friendlies to help the squad warm up for the start of the season. Their last meeting was in league play last October, with the result being a 2-2 draw.
