The latest episode of The SBI Podcast is here and this week we dive into both the U.S. Men’s National Team and Major League Soccer, with some interviews from some of the bigger names on the scene.

Our special guest this week is American midfielder Brek Shea, who joins us from England. The Stoke City winger discusses his recent transfer move, recovering from surgery, his Sky Sports car interview experience and his chances of making a return to the U.S. national team.

Co-host Garrett Cleverly and I also discuss MLS topics and share some interviews with New York Red Bulls star Thierry Henry and Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, as they discuss two of the hotter topics in recent weeks. Henry discusses the hiring of Red Bulls head coach Mike Petke, while Kennedy talks about the changes taking place at Chivas USA.

We cover a wide range of subjects in Episode 8 so be sure to give the a listen, either via iTunes, Stitcher or right here on SBI.

  1. Man, Ives. You gave it your all. Some great questions, but even you couldn’t drag the personality out of Brek. You gave him every opportunity But he just never opened up. You’d think by looking at Brek that he’d have a lot to say, but from every interview I’ve ever heard with him, it seems like the guy is just dull as dishwater.

  2. This may be a dumb question. Is there anywhere I can download this podcast? I listen from my droid, and if I play it from the browser I have to leave the screen on, which kills my battery. All the other podcasts I listen to have a download option, but I can’t seem to find one here. Am I just missing it?

  5. Love these podcasts. Thanks Ives. I do have a question. Does anyone else notice how often players say the word “obviously” in interviews? It starts off almost every sentence. Someone should look into this.

    • Hard to predict. Could be 3 years could be 10 or 15 years. Its more likely a 20 million transfer will be paid for an American that is in Europe or goes to Europe first.

    • When inflation goes up to that point.Truth be told if a MLS player is good enough for a 20mil transfer versus say a south American who is just as good.He would go for way less then his true international market value.
