This Weekend’s Soccer On TV

By MICHAEL KLINE

Defending German champions Borussia Dortmund will host fourth place Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, in the Bundesliga’s notable match-up of the weekend.

While excelling in the Champions League so far this season, Borussia Dortmund haven’t defended their domestic title the way they had hoped, trailing league-leaders Bayern Munich by fifteen points with only thirteen matches left to be played.

Frankfurt’s record away from home (4-1-5) bodes well for Dortmund, however, they will be without league-leading goalscorer Robert Lewandowski, who has netted fourteen times this season.

The FA Cup takes center stage in England this weekend, and with no Premier League clubs facing off in the tournament, the fixtures are headlined with possible upset scenarios.

Chelsea will attempt to defend their FA Cup title on Sunday when they meet Brentford in a replay at Stamford Bridge thanks to Fernando Torres’ late equalizer in the initial match-up.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s match vs. Swansea City remains the lone Premier League match of the weekend. Brendan Rodgers will welcome his former club to Anfield on Sunday, with Swansea sitting just two spots ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League table.
