  1. Anybody that plays the game knows that Yedlin’s goal was much higher degree of difficulty. It’s much harder to strike a ball dropping ball from high in the air rather than set up a volley with your own touch ala Traore

    • Agree with you, shane, a British accent should not be a prerequisite for being a TV soccer commentator. I don’t think the guy on video is not that bad though. But in the video below to Italy’s winning goal over Germany in 2006, perhaps one of the most dramatic moments in World Cup soccer history, I gotta say the one announcer is kind of irritating and just about anyone with a British accent would probably be better.

  2. I’m a Santos Laguna fan and all I have to say is congrats Seattle! Tigres is one of our most hated rivals and for El Tuca Ferretti had the audacity to send out a B-team as he has always done like last year’s copa libertadores and even from his Pumas days. I hope he gets trashed by the mexican media when he arrives to Monterrey, anyways congrats Seattle enjoy it while it last we’re coming for you! first we have to take care the Dynamo….

    • Yes but in terms of distance and power I think this was the better. Both excellent strikes on volleys from well outside of 206, in fact Traores was from like 509.

Yedlin being only 19 is crazy. I’m dreaming of him playing for the full national team already!

    • Speaking of Yedlin, that guy is an absolute animal. He made some of those UANL defenders look amateurish. I had to check my PS3 to see if I was playing FIFA or watching an actual game.

  3. As a huge Liverpool fan I remember his clearance of Sheva’s shot in the UCL way back when, but thats really the only memory I have him. When his name popped up with Seattle earlier this year I said “Oh that’s cool, I wonder if he is still any good”, and shrugged it off, but this goal is absolutely stunning.

  4. If Wikipedia is anything to go by, that’s his first club goal, too. Looks like he’s scored once with the national team, but never with a club. Not a bad way to get off the mark.
