The U.S. Men’s National Team’s memorable scoreless draw against Mexico was the highlight of a busy week on the American soccer scene and is the focus of the latest episode of The SBI Podcast.

Episode 21 touches on the USMNT’s memorable week in qualifying, as we discuss which players stepped up the most, and which players made the most of their chances in the March qualifiers.

Co-host Garrett Cleverly and I also discuss the U.S. Under-20 national team’s tough draw in the Under-20 World Cup, as well as Landon Donovan’s return to the Los Angeles Galaxy. We also discuss the top matches in MLS Week Five.

  1. Just watching the USA vs. Mexico game and Dempsey was terrible as usual. I know he scores when needed, but wow –it is depressing whatching him.

  2. another great podcast. keep it up and great meeting you Ives here in Denver.

hopefully DMB is one of your upcoming guests, i would love to hear from him. I feel like whenever anyone from the USNT, Jurgen, included, was asked about DeMarcus they couldn’t stop smiling and laughing about something.. is he just a the jokester of the group? did he do something in Denver before the games? more importantly what did he do for the locker room that didn’t seem like the happiest place before the past two games. Hoping to hear a bit more about the personalities of the group since you spent the last week with them..

  3. Gosh those jerseys are so boring and mediocre, why didn’t we just stick to the freaking hoops? At least then we had a unique jersey that could build some f*ing consistency

    • The hoops looked stupid. Im thinking US Soccer should make a special bedazzled ed hardy jersey for you. The rhinestones would look really good. Maybe they could put a dragon or an eagle on there for you. That would be unique

    • Maybe a rhinestone belt, a bucket hat, and sh*t kicker cleats. Or were you thinking of a more beverly hills look…? You fashionista you!

    • I like them. We always play the best in our all whites. Think we should stick with one all white look and rotate in alternates.

  4. Looking forward to listening and discovering which common idiom Garrett has never heard and thinks Ives invented (really Garrett? You’ve never heard, “the cream rises to the top,” before? Are you that young or am I that old? Just kidding, man. Love the show.
