No one could have predicted this after week one of the Major League Soccer season, but Chivas USA are in second place in the Western Conference following another dominating win, this time a 4-1 scoreline over the Chicago Fire on Sunday.

Led by Dan Kennedy’s outstanding goalkeeping and the attacking exploits of Edgar Mejia and Juan Agudelo, the Goats dismantled the Fire in convincing fashion. It was a performance that made them a strong pick for SBI MLS Team of the Week.

Led by controversial head coach Jose Luis Sanchez Sola, Chivas USA has jumped out to a 2-1-1 record, exceeding expectations and reaching seven points in four matches (it took the team 10 matches to reach that mark in 2012).

Chivas USA beat out the Montreal Impact and FC Dallas for this week’s honors.

What did you think of Chivas USA’s performance in Chicago? What team would have been your pick?

    • Um… it looks like the lineup from the first game of the season (4 matches ago)… So… let’s move on shall we?

PS: Laurent (or whatever his name is) looks like he’s gonna have a long season on the bench the way the boys have played without him.

    • It wasn’t, the scoreline is misleading. A couple fast break goals (due to Chicago pushing #s up) and an own goal.
