While others have struggled out of the starting gates, the Montreal Impact have taken a wide open lead, after winning their third straight match last Saturday, 2-1 over Toronto FC.

Battling against father time, a squad of veterans including as Davy Arnaud, Marco Di Vaio, Patrice Bernier, and Alessandro Nesta have combined with the youth of Felipe Martins, Andres Romero, and Jeb Brovsky has created a lethal combination.

Bernier and Di Vaio both scored against Toronto, with Arnaud assisting on the Di Vaio goal. Marco Schallinbaum’s side have looked strong all season, and their continued success in Saturday’s victory made them an easy pick for SBI MLS Team of the Week.

The Impact beat out the Philadelphia Union and Seattle Sounders for this week’s honors in an MLS week that saw six draws in MLS play.

What did you think of Montreal’s performance in Week Three? Which MLS team impressed you the most last weekend?

  1. This can’t be right.. they have a coach with no MLS experience, doesn’t understand the mentality of the north american player and of course the rules of the league! 🙁

  2. I can almost guarantee they’ll take a slide mid-season. This is the problem you run into having a team laden with veterans who run out of gas or get injured.

    • Maybe, but the 2012 Galaxy were a team laden with veterans and it wasn’t until mid-season that they really started firing.
