The New York Red Bulls turned in their most complete performance of the season last weekend at RFK Stadium and a trio of standouts led the charge to victory over D.C. United.

Thierry Henry, Dax McCarty and Jamison Olave drove the Red Bulls to their first road win of the season, and their efforts in beating D.C. United earned them all places on the SBI MLS Best XI for Week Seven.

Portland Timbers teammates Will Johnson and Futty Danso made the cut as well after Portland’s physical 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes.

The race for the goalkeeper spot was a tough one this week, but reigning SBI MLS Player of the Week Joe Bendik edged out Nick Rimando and Bobby Shuttlesworth for this week’s Best XI honors.

  1. You guys really need to focus on Jeff Parke, who has totally stablized the back 4 for Philadelphia Union this season. Hardly flashy, but oh, so effective… clogging up the scoring lanes from his position in the central defense of the Union defense. He’s rock hard and always in the right place.

  2. Sarkodie is really having a good season. He contributed greatly during the 2012 playoffs, and has continued to shine this season.

  3. It’s good to see Driver mentioned.

I like Taylor, and he is usually a stout CB, but I thought that he got caught ball-watching on the sole Fire goal this Sunday.

  4. Ives, could you add in parentheses after each players name the total number of times each player has appeared on the weekly best 11? As the season progresses its great to see which players have consistently excelled. thanks sir!
