MLS- New York Red Bulls

MLS Week 6: Fire vs. Red Bulls (SBI Live Match Commentary)

The Chicago Fire will try to remove themselves from the short list of remaining winless teams in MLS today when they take on the New York Red Bulls today at Toyota Park (5pm, ESPN2).

The Fire have been struggling badly this year, in part because of a misfiring attack and a defense that has sorely missed injured German veteran Arne Friedrich.

The Red Bulls only recently left the ranks of the winless, posting their first victory of 2013 just last weekend. They have had a history of struggling at Toyota Park, but will look to take advantage of the Fire’s early-season woes today.

SBI will be providing live commentary on today’s match so please feel free to follow along here. As always, you are welcome to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Standard! Leave it to the Red Bulls’ back-line to go limp after we score a goal. Olave didn’t clear the ball sufficiently. Holgersson doesn’t mark up well. And Robles wasn’t confident enough to get the ball in the air…

Ives, can we get a “running commentary” for the U-17 game vs Haiti? Thanks!

This is a bad loss. The red bulls are not playing well because they are not playing to their strengths. It looks like the same old red bulls great players but for some reason they can’t get the results

Luyindila not subbed off At the right time. He was clearly winded.
Cahill is invisible for large stretches of the game
Juninho is playing to deep to be effective
Good players are not coming on will we ever see rafhina or obekop
Players not playing with confidence as soon as Henry hits the pitch

I hope that after this game miller does not make it back to line up this would be a mistake the defense may have failed but the midfield collapsed on the plays too.

!7 years and the NYRB are exactly the same. Terrible. Change their name and they are still terrible. Change their uniforms and they are still terrible. Change their coach, their players and the front office and they are still terrible, terrible and terrible. I need a new team to follow, any suggestions? And no I am not fair weather. I’m just filled with 17 years of frustration. Robles is a chicken sh*t. He should have come out on the first goal and taken his head off. On the next two he could have come out and made himself bigger, not smaller – which is what he did. And Lyiduval or whatever his name is – absolute joke. I’m done wasting my time watching them.

Holy cow. Based on the first couple of games, despite the results, I thought that the Red Bulls would be one of the best teams in the league. They were having terrible luck, but I thought that would even out.

But now they are playing down to their results. It is astonishing.
