The New York Red Bulls have gone almost two years without tasting victory against Sporting Kansas City and tonight won’t be any easier as the Eastern Conference rivals square off at Red Bull Arena (7:30pm, MSG).

The Red Bulls enter off an impressive win vs. D.C. United, while Sporting KC come off a bye week after posting four consecutive shutouts and a 2-0-2 record during that stretch.

The Red Bulls will need to find a way to break through a Sporting KC defense that has been the stingiest in the league over the past year and change, a defense that has allowed just one goal against New York (an own goal) in their past four meetings with the Red Bulls.

Sporting KC’s attack will also provide a stiff test for the Red Bulls, with playmaker Graham Zusi and forward Claudio Bieler spearheading the offense.

  1. ‘Dave Martinez: Thierry Henry said many people don’t understand the value of Tim Cahill. Keep an eye on him; as Roy Miller continues to make overlapping runs, he is covering the fullback spot.’

fair to say if he has tim cahill covering for a attacking fullback, mike petke also doesn’t understand the value of tim cahill.
