Like a Spanish telanovela, the twists and turns in the transfer saga of Radamel Falcao Garcia are either laugh inducing, or the kind that gets your attention right away.

Last week, Spanish publication Marca reported that Manchester United were the new team on the block interested in the Colombian forward’s services. More so, they were reported to have paid a large sum of money to Atletico Madrid already for Falcao’s negotiating rights.

When asked about the reports following United’s 2-0 win against Stoke City, manager Sir Alex Ferguson emphatically denied them.

“Do you honestly believe that? Really? It does amaze me that you come up with that one,” Ferguson told ESPN FC.

Despite this statement, multiple English publications have reported that United’s chief scout Jim Lawlor was in Madrid to watch Falcao play, where he scored twice in a 5-0 win over Granada on Sunday.

NEWMAR INCHES CLOSER TOWARDS BARCELONA MOVE

As the summer transfer window approaches, the reports surrounding Neymar da Silva Santos Jr. continue to grow and expand like a multicellular organism.

Speaking to Brazilian radio station Radio Globo, a South American representative of Barcelona reportedly confirmed the club’s serious interest in Neymar, and said that if possible, they’d like to bring Neymar to Spain by the start of next season.

“At Barcelona we do not usually sign many players, and he is our first choice, Andre Cury told Radio Globo.” When he decides to leave Santos, we will be ready.

“Messi, Xavi and Iniesta are already awaiting him with open arms.”

The 21-year-old Brazilian star scored four goals at the weekend, and is likely to move within the next two years to either Barcelona or Real Madrid. So far since the start of the year, Neymar has scored 12 goals in 13 matches in the Paulista state championship for Santos.

KLOPP FIRES SHOTS ACROSS REAL MADRID BOW

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho was in attendance in Furth on Sunday to see future Champions League opponents Borussia Dortmund up close and personal.

After find out that Mourinho was at the match, a 6-1 win for last year’s German champions, Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp said that the Portuguese manager was wasting his time going to the match, and was even foolish to leave early.

“If he needs the experience of seeing his opponent in the stadium then there is obviously no problem,” Klopp told Marca. “However he left when we were 5-0 up so he missed our weaknesses.

“I could have told him that we are quite a good team myself if he had called me on the phone.”

Mourinho and Klopp will go head to head in the two-legged semi-finals in the UEFA Champions League on April 24 in Dortmund and April 30 in Madrid.

  1. Just not that sold on Neymar yet, will be extremely interested to see how he performs when he has to play weekly against teams that have decent defenders/goalies. Although I would love to see him at a deeper league, some of the teams near the bottom of La Liga arent exactly the greatest

    • As opposed to Rangers, Reading, Wigan, Aston Villa?

Rangers has won 4 of 33. Reading has won 5 of 33.

Every league has awful teams due in part to relegation/promotion.

  2. Not sure if I see neymar fitting in well at barca. Every time I’ve seen him he’s about dwelling on the ball until he can beat 3 guys off the dribble, which he often does, but would kill barcas fluid attacks. Maybe I haven’t seen enough of him though.

    • Iggy,

I think Neymar does that because he’s usually head and shoulders above the other talent on the pitch. Also, he’s young and the entire club placates to his potential greatness.

At Barca? He’d have a role to play within their general system. No one is bigger than the club at Barca and he wouldn’t even be the best player on his club. Both of which would be a huge contrast for him, his playing style and his perspective.

I think Neymar’s creativity would flourish at Barca, personally.

      • I think it would for sure.

With the veteran leadership of Xavi to help him buy into the system–showing him what he can do creatively and score–he’d be a perfect cog. His technical ability is out of this world. If he bought in it would be like two Messis.

  3. Klopp is an idiot. Why is he talking trash about a manager leaving early? There’s literally no point. It’s not like Mourihno is going to be pushed by that.

    • YEAH!!! How dare he have a little fun after a big win, making meaningless, tongue in cheek comment implying that if Mourihno had stayed for the whole match, he would have seen Dortmund’s weaknesses, in a match the German club won 6-1?

  4. They’re already bordering on being the greatest club team ever and they’re going to add Neymar?

    Neymar + Xavi + Iniesta + Messi

    Good. God.

    • To be honest…. if they do buy him it could be quite bad for them. He’s not going to be cheap and unless they sell a lot players (Song?) they wont have the money to buy the defenders they need.

      • They’ve got Montoya and Bartra who are two of the best young defenders in Europe.

Alves will be gone and they’ll probably bring up another young La Masia kid.

Probably could use a veteran CB to replace Puyol if Pique doesn’t shape up, but otherwise I’d say they’re set. They’ve never been particularly strong in the back.

    • Right?

Of course, I think that needs to be addressed in their backline first but we saw how toothless, even for Barca, they were without Messi.

That said, their window IS closing and they need to use the last 4-5 years of Messi’s greatness appropriately.
