It takes a special performance to have a team place more than two or three players in the SBI MLS Best XI, but the Portland Timbers turned in one of those kind of performances in their win against the Houston Dynamo.

Jamaican forward Ryan Johnson leads a group of four Timbers on this Week’s SBI MLS Best XI, with midfielder Diego Chara among those earning plaudits for his outstanding efforts against the Dynamo.

Reigning SBI MLS Player of the Week Daniel Paladini is joined on the squad by teammate Maicon Santos after the two combined for a pair of late goals to help the Fire beat the New York Red Bulls.

Red-hot Sporting Kansas City also placed two players on the team, including striker Claudio Bieler, who delivered the game-winning goal against D.C. United.

Here is the SBI MLS Best XI for Week Six:

  1. Santos with 2 goals in just under 30 minutes to win the game. Either Rolfe or McDonald, need to start the next game on the bench and see what Maicon can do with a full 90.

Also, honorable mention should go out to Hunter Jumper, who impressed in his first MLS start.

  2. 3 former DC United players in that Best XI. Thank you DC United Front Office for continuing to build a championship club!

    • Oh come on Josh lol you didn’t care until you saw this list. Every average player has a good game every now and then aka Maicon Santos lol.

  3. Glad to see Colorado’s USL/NASL scouting working well; Irwin has been a great find.

Klute, singed from ATL has also been a good pickup.

    • Doesn’t reflect terribly well on the Impact or TFC though, as Irwin played for Capital City FC in the Canadian Soccer League against the academy sides of both of those clubs.

  4. I think Darlington Nagbe should be in the starting 11 for his play in the 2nd half, but it’s difficult to determine who he would replace….maybe a cop-out, but Chara/Nagbe can share a spot in the starting 11.

    • Have him take Rodney Wallace’s spot. Wallace was good, but Nagbe was better.

Don’t have him take Chara’s spot as Chara definitely deserves to be there (he won Stumptown Footy’s man of the match poll by a landslide despite excellent performances from many other players). I was shocked that Chara wasn’t included in MLSsoccer’s team of the week (not even on the bench).
