MLS- Montreal Impact

Oduro equalizer helps Crew earn draw in Montreal

The match was as cold as the pitch beneath the 22 players running on it. That was until a four-minute second half stretch when both Marco Di Vaio and Dominic Oduro scored spectacular goals for their clubs.

The result was that the Montreal Impact drew with the Columbus Crew 1-1 on Sunday afternoon at Stade Saputo, with the match being played 24 hours after it’s originally scheduled time due to snowfall in Montreal.

Alessandro Nesta returned to the Impact lineup after missing the previous two matches with injury, helping return the defense to a level not seen in their last match, a 2-0 loss to Sporting Kansas City.

It wasn’t until the 68th minute that Di Vaio finally found the net. After being ruled offside just minutes earlier, Di Vaio struck his boot through a loose ball and fired it into the back of the net past the Crew’s Andy Gruenembaum for an important one goal lead.

Yet, it only took four minutes for Oduro to score his second goal in consecutive matches, leveling the scoreline in the 72nd minute off a wicked left-footed attempt. Crew defender Josh Williams sent in a ball towards the box from the right, which Impact Patrice Bernier got a leg on before it found a Crew player. But there was Oduro, needing just one touch of the ball to get past Impact defender Hassoun Camara and then place the ball into the top corner.

Here are the match highlights (after the jump):
