Thirteen weeks into the Clausura season, the parity amongst Liga MX teams is easy to see when looking at the standings. Just ten points separate third-placed Club America from the 14th-placed Puebla.

However, first-placed Tigres UANL have quietly stayed undefeated and will look to extend their lead at the top of the table when they visit fifth-placed Pumas on Saturday. The Nuevo Leon-based club, who features Jose Torres in their starting lineup, have scored a league high 24 goals on the season on their way to eight wins so far this season.

Most interesting about them, Tigres have won all six of their matches on the road, but have won just two at home, drawing the other five matches they played at the Estadio Universitario

Los Diablo Rojos from Toluca look to build momentum from last week’s 1-0 home win against Monterrey, while Santos Laguna looks to avoid dropping more points when the two meet up in Torreon on Friday evening. Santos forward Herculez Gomez has played well in the CONCACAF Champions League, but has failed to score in his domestic campaign for the last four weeks.

Club Tijuana scored their first victory since early March with a mid-week win in the Copa Libertadores. Now returning to the domestic game, Xolos look to get back on the winning track, but will have a tough time when they travel to Cruz Azul on Saturday, who are fresh off a Copa MX title, the club’s first trophy in 15 years.

One team that looks to break their recent run of poor games are Chivas de Guadalajara,  losing two straight games which saw them concede five goals. The Goats host bottom-of-the-table Atlante on Sunday, a game that if it’s won, it could prove to be an insurance win if other teams in front of them drop points.

Rafael Marquez Lugo recently scored a brace for the Goats last week, but it will take a full team effort if Guadalajara want to climb-up the standings.
