Bedoya delivers assist in Helsingborg rout of Hacken

Alejandro Bedoya (Helsingborg)

By FRANCO PANIZO

Helsinborg IF seemingly cannot be stopped these days and neither can Alejandro Bedoya.

Helsingborg moved into the top spot in the Allsvenskan standings on Monday after routing BK Hacken, 5-0, and Bedoya once again made an impact for his club. Bedoya helped cap the scoring in the lopsided affair, recording an assist with a square pass to a teammate after getting in behind the defense.

The assist continued Bedoya’s run of excellent form, which may have U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann considering calling up Bedoya for the upcoming camp prior to two friendlies and three World Cup qualifiers.

Helsingborg have now won each of their last five matches while outscoring their opponents 17-2.

Bedoya has five goals across all competitions since March.

Here is the assist:

What do you think of Bedoya’s assist? How impressed are you by his recent form? Expecting to see him called in to the upcoming USMNT camp instead of the Gold Cup?

  1. Hopefully, Bedoya leave Viking League soon, goes somewhere better, like Latino League (La Liga or Serie A).

  2. Gotta agree with the other posters here. Bedoya couldn’t get many minutes with Rangers, he needs to move to a more competitive league and improve. We have others players who are playing in better leagues who should be considered ahead of him.

    • Unfair to critize Ale for his time w/ Rangers. He got hurt at the outset and then the team fell apart and into financial ruin. Then Rangers couldn’t afford to keep him (and not worth Ale’s time to play in 4th tier Scottish football). But I agree it’s time for Ale to move on to a bigger league. Holland, Belgium, and Spain all seem like good possibilities.

      • to be fair Scotland was that bigger league. He thought he had made his move from Sweden to Scotland before Rangers caved in on itself. He had offers from Fuerth who just got promoted to the 1. Bundesliga but decided to stay another 6 months to avoid a relegation battle team. He’s more than looking to get out of Sweden and get to a real league. The reason he hasn’t yet is his experience with Rangers.

  3. Could we possibly see the following in the near future????

    • Bedoya needs to prove it at a higher level before being really considered for the national team. I’d rather have Herc, Zusi, or even Corona on the field in some formation first.

      • As a BC alum, I’ve always rooted for Bedoya to excel. However, I agree with you Iggy that Herc, Zusi, and Corona (Liga Mx is better than Sweden) should all see the field before Bedoya.

Players like Bedoya are part of the reason I’m so excited for this year’s Gold Cup. Our “B” squad has some very exciting prospects.
