The Colorado Rapids have relied all season on the youth in the squad, and last Saturday was no different.

Rookie forward Deshorn Brown set up both goals for the Rapids as they defeated Chivas USA, 2-0, earning Brown this week’s honor of SBI MLS Rookie of the Week. This is the Central Florida product’s second such honor this season.

Honorable mention for this week includes FC Dallas’ Walker Zimmerman, the New England Revolution’s Andrew Farrell, and the Los Angeles Galaxy’s Gyasi Zardes.

What did you think of Brown’s performance? Which rookie impressed you the most in MLS Week 13.

  1. Agree with this choice. The Rapids named Nathan Sturgis MOTM due to his goal (direct assist from Brown) and his participation in playing defense from the midfield. I though DeShorn Brown could have easily gotten MOTM as well.

  2. Rapids defence has given up 3 goals total in the 8 games they played on April and May combined.

Their goal difference overall is + 3

Brown is a logial choice. Another clean sheet, after all.

  3. Zardes didn’t show up on the score sheet, but wow. The dude just drips potential. He’s like a lot of the other freak athletes in our U-23 setup, only he has a decent touch and plays well with his back to the goal. He could be a special one.

  4. Well chosen pic. He looks like like a beast. Jamaica is excelling at turning out pacy powerful forwards. Its the other positions we need help with.
