Soccer Sunday: Your Running Commentary

Today’s soccer action is kicked off in Rome, where the Coppa Italia Final will see local rivals AS Roma and Lazio square off in an intense battle for cup glory and a spot in next season’s Europa League.

American midfielder Michael Bradley and Roma have the opportunity to claim the club’s tenth Coppa Italia cup trophy, which would move Roma ahead of Juventus as the competition’s most successful club.

Thwarting Vladimir Petković and Lazio will be no easy task, however, with the Biancocelesti having taken four points from their two previous meetings with Roma this season.

Later in the day, Real Sociedad will host Real Madrid in an ongoing battle to qualify for the Champions League.

Sociedad currently sit tied on points with Valencia for the last Champions League spot in Spain, and a loss against Madrid will be a massive blow to their European dreams.

Valencia, meanwhile, will welcome Granada to the Mestalla Stadium, who happens to be one of the bottom five clubs in the Spanish top division.

  1. Ives – what’s the word on Terrance Boyd? He’s had a decent (perhaps good) first season with Rapid so curious if he’s in their plans or a transfer is on the horizon this summer?

    Thanks!

    • Hey Citronomics, the SBI Podcast had TB on the broadcast a few weeks ago. He was a fun kid and seemed to indicate that all is up in the air but that he is happy to be playing and producing. Give it a listen.

Also, as far I anybody knows at this point, there isn’t an imminent move.
