A place in the FIFA Club World Cup is on the line in tonight’s CONCACAF Champions League second-leg match between Mexican sides Santos Laguna and Monterrey.

The two clubs played to a scoreless draw on April 24 and now as the series shifts to Nuevo Leon, Herculez Gomez and Santos Laguna will look to get revenge over last year’s final winners, who won 3-2 on aggregate. If Monterrey can win on Wednesday night, it will be their third straight Champions League title.

The second leg of the Amway Canadian Championship takes place as well on Wednesday night. Toronto holds a 2-0 aggregate lead over Toronto as the sides meet up at Stade Saputo, while out west the Vancouver Whitecaps hold a 3-2 aggregate advantage on FC Edmonton as the stage shifts to BC Place.

Argentinian giant Boca Juniors hosts defending champion Corinthians from Brazil in the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday evening, giving midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme another chance to dazzle to a large audience on the silver screen.

If you will be watching either of Wednesday’s matches, please feel free to share any thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

  1. Does anyone have a good alternative to goal.com. I can’t find any website that gives as good coverage as they do.

  2. Did you see that dive by the Corinthians winger? I give him 9.9; very well timed, very difficult, if not impossible to judge real time. The only way to punish this stuff (for those inclined to) is to review the tape afterwards.
