Beasley re-signs with Puebla

DaMarcusBeasley Puebla (Puebla)

By DAN KARELL

When DaMarcus Beasley was put on Puebla FC’s transfer list, it looked like his time at the Liga MX club was over.

However, after failing to be taken by another team in the Liga MX draft, Beasley chose to re-sign with Puebla, sticking around after two solid seasons that has seen him become a fan favorite at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc.

What do you think of this development? Glad to see Beasley stay with Puebla? Disappointed to not see him return to MLS? Think he returns to MLS before he retires?

  1. F. Johnson tucking inside and DMB pushing up looks pretty good. Beasley has this whole year to grow into that position even more. Unless Shea rips it up in the EPL and forces FJ back(ideal scenario)

    • If ppl think Edgar hasn’t done or shown enough on the international stage to prove his worth, then they really need to reconsider their opinions on Shea.

Watching most of FC Dallas’ games over the last 6 yrs I’m still not convinced he can still hit a good consistent cross

      • If Brek makes the WC team, it won’t be because of what he did the last six years in Dallas, it will be because of what he is doing now.

      • If Shea gets back where we all want him to, crossing will be the least of it.

He’s big, fast ,direct and can be hard to stop once he gets going. I’ll take that even if he may not be Brad Davis in the crossing department.

  2. posturing by player and club and the media can be an outlet to get leverage in negotiations. I’m sure there was pulling on both sides. Sort of like trying to get a decent interest rate when buying a car.

  3. clearly this comes down to money, not ability or form. everyone knows what Beasley does and does not bring to the table. i’m sure he took a pay cut. i’m not sure what things would dictate his move to MLS, but did something prevent a move to MLS? there HAS to be a team that would be interested in him. even with an @ssumed pay cut, no MLS team could at least match it? or maybe they did, or exceeded it, and Beasley said no? i just really thought he would end up in MLS unless Beasley himself didn’t want that. so I’m curious. granted, he did say he prefers to stay with Puebla.

    • After he was transfer listed, he was interviewed about his future plans. When MLS came up, his response was something to the effect of he thought he’d left MLS on good terms, but after the lack of interest, he guessed not.

I think he wanted to move back north of the border, Puebla probably transfer listed him to get compensation, and MLS demurred. Their loss.

  5. Puebla didnt want Beas when he was a mid/forward and put him on the chopping block, but now that he has risen from the ashes like a phoenix as the LB star that he is, they want him! Haha Congrats Beas!

    • He is not a LB and Puebla probably isn’t crazy enough to use him as a LB outside of emergencies… He is a winger. Hopefully Klinsmann realizes this before it’s too late and Beasley falls down for the 500th time and the opposing team scores an easy goal.

    • Dude — Like everything else in this world, it was about money. Beas was looking for a big raise. I’m guessing he didn’t get it.
