Bedoya scores Helsingborg equalizer vs. Kalmar

Alejandro Bedoya (Helsingborg)

Alejandro Bedoya may be nearing the end of his time with Helsingborg BK, but that is not stopping him from continuing to make an impact for the club.

Bedoya once again found a way to contribute to Helsingborg’s cause, as he netted the equalizer in the second half of a 1-1 draw with Kalmar on Sunday. Bedoya, who went the distance in the match, scored easily from in close after combining neatly with a teammate at the top of the penalty area.

The goal raises Bedoya’s total to five in league play and seven across all competitions, and raises his chances of being named to the final U.S. Men’s National Team roster for next month’s Gold Cup. Bedoya was on the preliminary 35-man roster U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann released in late May.

The 26-year-old midfielder will soon be a free agent as his deal with Helsingborg is set to expire in the coming days.

  1. Bedoya would take a step or two backwards by coming to MLS. I would not understand that move unless he really misses Chilis.

    • No OliveGarden in Europe but there is a Chili’s at Ramstein Air Base.

That’s about a 1000 km from Helsingborg but it’s certainly doable if he misses Chili’s that much. Now if you were talking White Castle that’s another story.

  2. What’s up SBI crew, I know that the main European seasons are over, but can we still get an “Americans Abroad Weekend Recap” each Monday morning/Sunday evening? We have several big prospects in the Nordic leagues, and it would be nice to see how they did each weekend. Thanks!

  3. That backheel was cheeky. Good technique from Bedoya to allow the ball to run across his body and then first time it. That kept the keeper off-balance. Bedoya also skinned the Kalmar #30 (how do you spell Omar Gonzalez in Swedish?) with the initial entry pass. Would love to see him combine like that with Jozy.
