The Fifth Annual Cosmos Copa has set its 16-team field, with players representing a wide range of nations set to compete for bragging rights in the New York area.
The tournament, sponsored by the New York Cosmos, features players from the New York City area, and includes professional players from around the world. French pros Rod Fanni and Osmane Dabo headlined the France team that secured a place in the Round of 16, which also features the eight teams that made up the 2012 quarterfinals of the Cosmos Copa.
Two-time champions NYC Poland leads a tough group that features USA and impressive qualifier NYC Uruguay. Defending Cosmos Copa champion Haiti is in a group featuring Argentina and Greece.
Here are the groups for the Tournament’s Round of 16, which will be played on July 13th at Pier 40 in Manhattan, and July 14th at Randall’s Island.
Group A: NYC Haiti, NYC Greece, NYC Argentina, NYC Gambia
Group B: NYC Poland, NYC USA, NYC Ivory Coast, NYC Uruguay
Group C: NYC Senegal, NYC Jamaica, NYC Croatia, NYC France
Group D: NYC Bolivia, NYC Colombia, NYC El Salvador, NYC Italy
