The Confederations Cup has given fans the dream matchup between Spain and Brazil, with the title on the line as the two meet in the final of the half-month long tournament.
The defending World and European champions meet an in-form Brazil team that is looking stronger than in recent memory. Spain had to outlast Italy in an arduous 120 minutes of soccer before winning, 7-6, on penalty kicks. Brazil on the other hand left it late against Uruguay, winning with an 86th minute header by Paulinho to top Uruguay, 2-1. Neymar assisted on both of Brazil’s goals.
Ahead of the Confederations Cup final is the third-place match, which sees Uruguay take on a gritty Italian side. A number of Uruguay’s players call Italy home for their club sides, only adding to the story lines for the match.
