Familiar foes Real Salt Lake and Seattle Sounders renew acquaintances at Rio Tinto Stadium tonight as they face off in the marquee match-up of today’s MLS slate.

RSL enter the match riding a four-match unbeaten streak and will be looking to open a gap on Seattle in the West standings. The Sounders have just one loss in their past nine matches and will look to duplicate the success they enjoyed vs. RSL in last year’s playoffs, when the club registered the first playoff series victory in its history.

Another quality match-up will take place in Texas, where FC Dallas will battle a struggling Sporting KC side with just win in five matches. FCD have also slowed down after their strong start to the season, posting just two wins in their past seven matches, but they still hold first place in the West (though a loss could allow Portland to pass them).

Here is a rundown of today’s MLS schedule:

7pm – MLS Direct Kick – DC United vs. San Jose Earthquakes

8pm – MLS Direct Kick – Columbus Crew vs. Chicago Fire

8:30pm – MLS Direct Kick – FC Dallas vs. Sporting Kansas City

9pm – MLS Direct Kick – Houston Dynamo vs. Toronto FC

9:30pm – MLS Direct Kick – Real Salt Lake vs. Seattle Sounders

    • Great call!! How about Leo Gonzalez getting his foot touched by Garcia and going and staying down clutching his face?!! Glad to see that equal amounts of class is to be found with the Sounders!

      • So I made my post long before that and if I had my way they would all get yellow cards retroactively for that kind of stuff. It has no place in the game, you are essentially cheating to try and get someone else sent off.

  1. RSL with a couple of very lucky bounces today on their two goals. Saborio just completely mishit his shot, got stuck between Findley’s legs and he was able to finish. RSL has been better so they deserve their lead but just crap luck

    • Pretty horrible, he was so fast with the red card after that, it seemed really odd. It started bad with that weird penalty call on what was a goal for KC anyways.

  2. BLACK AND RED UNTIL I’M DEAD UNITED TIL I DIE

RFK celebrating like we won a trophy. DC can do this. One step at a time baby.

    • And that’s really a shame. As a neutral and a fan at large, I’d love to see some excitement in DC.

On another note, are the Quakes announcers the worst in the league? Maybe in history? Kelly Grey is a nightmare.
