The New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union renew their I-95 rivalry today at PPL Park in the day’s marquee match-up in Major League Soccer.
Three MLS matches make up the day’s slate, with the Red Bulls trip south to face the Union in a clash of teams coming of lengthy MLS breaks.
In Portland, the Timbers return to Jeld-Wen Field to take on the Colorado Rapids. Caleb Porter’s side is riding a 14-match unbeaten streak in MLS play and can climb into the top five of the all-time list with a win or tie today against a Rapids side that has suddenly hit a slump.
The evening’s action is capped by the clash of Los Angeles teams, as the Galaxy face off against Chivas USA. The Goats are arguably the worst team in the league at the moment, but they face a Galaxy side that has been struggling as well. The return of Omar Gonzalez from international duty should provide a boost for the defending champions.

Yay, the Galaxy found someone crappy enough that they could beat ’em!
Raise your hand if you had Philly and PDX both in 2nd at the halfway mark…
if the Timbers and Porter rep the league in the CL it will be fun to root for them I think, fun team right now
Timbers fans–
What’s the deal with Nagbe’s citizenship? Is he trying to get his US citizenship and play for the USMNT? Just curious….
That would be my guess, he is married to an American so I think he’s on his way. But I think his dad was Liberia’s captain back in the day so who knows. I think he would make an interesting gold cup level player.
He has green card and is on path. He has 2 more years. He’s rebuffed advances by Liberia so far and wants to play for USA.
thanks!
The goats slow death march continues with a thorough beating tonight by The Los Angeles Galaxy.
didn’t have a great look at the sam red card. looked like a 50-50 challenge to me. was it legit?
There have been some very inadvisable tackles in this game.
Dumb offside by Dax costs NYRB the goal on perfect spot service by Henry.
Can th whole Lloyd Sam cult officially shut the heck up now. Do you understand now why he doesn’t start?
The wheels on the bus fall off and off,
off and off,
off and off,
the wheels on the bus fall off and off,
wow the red bulls suck.
No penalty kick for Henry?
Awful replay. Couldn’t tell for sure. Looked like one. I though espn was better than that. NYRB looks like they haven’t played in a month…. Oh wait.
They look awful no doubt.
It looked to me like he was gunning for the box, pushed the ball ahead, then went looking for the defender’s legs.
