Two of the biggest surprise stories in Major League Soccer will square off in a nationally televised match Saturday afternoon at PPL Park.
The Philadelphia Union, led by Gold Cup-bound forward Jack McInerney, are coming off of back-to-back 3-0 wins. On Saturday, they take on a FC Dallas squad that has cooled off after racing out to a hot start in the Western Conference.
Another top matchup tonight will be the California Classico between San Jose and Los Angeles at Stanford Stadium. Both sides will be missing players in the days ahead with Gold Cup duties, so look for these rivals to go all out for a win with their full-strength squads.
Here’s a rundown of today’s MLS schedule:
1pm – MLS Direct Kick – Toronto vs Real Salt Lake
5:30pm – NBC Sports Network – Philadelphia Union vs Dallas
7pm – MLS Direct Kick – Montreal Impact vs Colorado Rapids
7pm – MLS Direct Kick – DC United vs Vancouver Whitecaps
8:30pm – MLS Direct Kick – Sporting KC vs Columbus Crew
10:30pm – MLS Direct Kick – SJ Earthquakes vs LA Galaxy
10:30pm – MLS Direct Kick – Chivas USA vs New England Revolution

That was some crazy stoppage time.
I have pain.
The Ben Olsen press conference is going into my bookmarks under “greatest referee rant.”
Seriously. If you missed that–find video. I expect a 3 game suspension at the minimum for Olsen. What a tirade.
I know DC is terrible, but they were totally robbed tonight. No Way that was a penalty. He clearly got the ball first. Talk about kicking a team when it’s down.
Speaking of being gifted a goal, did anyone see the horrible back pass that Oduro made a meal of at KC?
No but someone mentioned that LAG gifted a game to San Jose.
2-2 is more than fair given that the Union just scored and wasn’t awarded a goal.
Dallas*
That was the second crazy finish in a row. Not having a rooting interest in either, they were as entertaining as hell.
McMath should have punched that ball. No one to blame but himself.
Dallas was robbed! Unfortunate.
Red card for diving. Alan Chapman is my new hero.
has anyone seen Julian Green play i heard that he played for Bayern today, i really hope he commits to the US
Hey Tab Ramos–Walker Zimmerman has 2 goals in MLS as a CB in the last week but can’t get on your squad over a 5 start college freshman.
GOOD CALL!
Zimmerman should have changed his name to Walker Hernandez Gonzalez de Pereira.
I had no idea goals is what you look for from a CB. How is the defense performing with him in the lineup? Three goals against at home against Portland and two goals against on the road to Philly? Was he part of that play when Nagbe torched the entire Dallas defense? I know he gave up a stinker of a back pass to gift Portland a goal.
What’s with the Philly fans singing the anthem in “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” fashion. Sounded terrible. The PA guy said this is their tradition. Don’t they know to wait for the music?
Nick Rimando, legend.
2 reds in the RSL/TFC game?!?! What happened in that one???
A pretty poor soccer game, but a really good shoving contest.
Silva, I believe, kicked out at Tony Beltran, who turned and shoved him down. Henry shoves Beltran hard from behind. Both Beltran and Henry sent off, Findley gets a yellow for involving himself. Really a dumb retaliation from Beltran, but at least he took someone with him.
Thanks.
Was following it on the Fox Match Tracker and it suddenly popped up that there were two reds with no explanation. Sounds like it was quite chippy…
This game has also made me want to shove somebody, so I get it.
