FC Dallas and Chivas USA play to scoreless draw

The only fireworks at FC Dallas Stadium on Thursday night were of the gunpowder variety as neither FC Dallas or Chivas USA could find the net on a night of few chances.

FCD and Chivas USA played to a scoreless draw, marking a second straight draw for both teams, though you would imagine FC Dallas will feel disappointed not winning at home against a Chivas USA side that hasn’t won in more than three months.

Though there were no goals scored, it wasn’t for a lack of chances. FC Dallas threatened the net on three occasions inside the opening ten minutes, with Michel’s free kick off the post coming the closest to putting the home side in front. Chivas USA had their own chances thanks to the play of Eric Avila and Jose Correa, who missed an early chance from close range and had another shot saved by Raul Fernandez.

In the 86th minute, Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy made the save of the game, diving low to stop a Blas Perez header from crossing the line. Just two days after his Mexico Under-20 side were knocked out of the Under-20 World Cup by Spain, Chivas USA midfielder Julio Morales had a chance to be the hero, whipping in a left-footed shot that was well parried away by Fernandez in 90th minute stoppage-time.

    • eh every 4th of July FCD packs the house. Sure some are there for the fire works and are fair weather fans. It’s no reason to not come out and defeat the worst team in the league.

This draw feels more akin to a loss than a draw…

      • A draw and a point on the road against a seemingly quality side playing in front of a big holiday crowd? Now that sounds a bit like a gift to Chivas. 🙂

      • And being upset at MORE people showing up for a game? Please, go back to your solid gold houses and cry about your diamond crusted shoes not fitting.

    • What is your point? You’re upset at 20k fans, which, btw, is only technically 5-6k more than average this year. What a misplaced attitude.
