Despite scoring just two goals prior to last Saturday, Chris Rolfe proved to his doubters that he still can finish as well as he used to.
The 30-year-old Chicago Fire forward scored his team’s first two goals in the second minute and 45th minute, taking advantage of breakaway opportunities to finish past D.C. United goalkeeper Joe Willis in a 4-1 Fire victory. The performance made Rolfe an easy selection for SBI MLS Player of the Week.
Rolfe beat out Portland Timbers stopper Donovan Ricketts, the New England Revolution’s Jose Gonçalves, and Colorado Rapids captain Drew Moor.
What did you think of Rolfe’s performance? What player in MLS impressed you the most in Week 21?

Really, there should be an award for player of the week who plays against a team other than DC United. I think 9 of your players of the week this year have played against DC United in the week selected.
It’s not really fair for all those players who have great games against competitive competition.
(Also, many of the goals of the week have also come against DC United. It’s pretty embarrassing.)
Lindpere set up both of Rolfe’s goals perfectly and had a goal of his own.
Should have gone to Lindpere
Completely agree — Hasn’t been Joel’s best year so far, but his two assists and his finish were all fabulous. His best game in a Fire uniform.
