SBI MLS Rookie of the Week: Dillon Powers

The Dillon Powers Rookie of the Year campaign continues to build steam, with the Notre Dame product turning in another stellar performance for the Colorado Rapids.

Powers scored a goal and played outstanding in midfield to help the Rapids post a 4-3 victory over the Montreal Impact last Saturday, handing Montreal their first home loss of the season. Powers’ performance helped earn him SBI MLS Rookie of the Week honors.

Powers beat out a field of candidates that included Walker Zimmerman and Rapids teammate Deshorn Brown.

  1. No rookie has meant more to his club then Powers. Check # of games started, minutes played, and successful pass completion ratio with 3 goals and 2 assists.

    • Seems like Zimmerman might be the front runner at this point. I know I’ve read his name more than Powers.

  2. So sad to be moving from Colorado right now. Rapids rookies show promise for the future and I’ll have to watch on the tube. 🙁

  3. Amazing that Zimmerman wasn’t good enough to be included on the U20 roster but is good enough to get minutes for FC Dallas and is on the list of standout rookies for this week on SBI.

    Makes you wonder about Tab’s eye for spotting talent
