This weekend features several club friendlies, while the Gold Cup also continues to heat up.

Manchester United, Monaco, Manchester City and Bayern Munich will all be in preseason action this weekend, when they face a wide-range of friendly opponents.

Fans will be excited to see David Moyes’ first match in charge of Manchester United, as well as the squad AS Monaco bring to Germany when they face recently relegated Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf.

The Gold Cup will also continue this weekend, as the second round of group stage matches begin to commence.

Honduras will meet El Salvador on Friday evening, with the victor taking control of Group B. On Sunday, Martinique will host Mexico in a crucial elimination match, with both squads needing at least a point to advance to the quarter-finals.

  1. Cuba’s team looks and feels like Junior High team. Too bad, would’ve liked to seen an intense politically charged game

  2. With the USMNT getting deeper as time goes by it is certain to present a host of problems finding the right combinations for particular games. Rather than playing around (experimenting) with their opponents in mind what may be a better strategy is to play the same 11 as much as possible (barring unavailability of players for whatever reason) for each of the 2 groups contesting the GC and the WCQ. The idea is going to alienate some players but one cannot please every body all of the time… unfortunately.

  3. MLS website shows Portland vs. LA Galaxy on NBC Sports Network but doesn’t have Philadelphia vs. Chivas on television.

  4. Chivas plays twice tonight a half hour apart against two different teams in two different cities. Now that is impressive.

  5. I will never get the authors of this weekly piece. Foreign league pre-season. Does it get any lower than that ? I guess MLS is in their minds….

I thought LA-Portland was on ESPN, did I dream that….Better than the nightmare of DC Chivas tonight.
