Houston Dynamo defender Corey Ashe received good news while Molde midfielder Josh Gatt is still waiting final word on injuries suffered over the weekend by two members of the U.S. Men’s National Team Gold Cup squad.
U.S. Soccer announced on Monday that Ashe was day-to-day with a thigh contusion while Gatt is awaiting the results of an MRI taken to determine the severity of a knee injury suffered over the weekend.
Ashe suffered the thigh contusion after a collision with Tim Cahill during the Dynamo’s 2-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls on Sunday.
Gatt suffered his injury during Molde’s 3-1 win vs. Sarpsborg on Saturday.
Both Ashe and Gatt have seen injuries cost them chances to play national team soccer, but as of Monday evening, the hope is that both will be able to recover in time to remain on the U.S. Gold Cup squad.
Gatt and Ashe seem to be headed for the Holden – Whitbread club in terms of badly timed USMNT injuries.
It is clear that Chivas needs help. Still the reason both JK and Boca gave for his being left off the roster was the that he needed to find a real job first. Now that that is done, the facts have changed; we will see what happens with Ashe vs Boca.
I don’t think that finding a team was the reason for Boca not coming in. i think that going to the new team, and settling in was the reason. He should just go to Chivas, and play. U.S. will get by fine without him, and Chivas is paying him and desperately needs him.
Now that Boca has a team, the original reason is gone. The PR would even be good for the goats
Not if he couldn’t get playing time on our B team.
But, yes, I would love to see him there.
i think if Ashe isnt fit Boca is almost a lock to be added. if Gatt cant go, is there another true winger we can bring in- Joe Gyau anyone?
Not on the preliminary roster. Can’t come.
