The Colorado Rapids are coming off one of their most impressive wins of the season, and tonight they have a chance to add another quality scalp to their list of conquests when they take on traditional 4th of July opponent New York Red Bulls (9:30pm, Direct Kick).

The Rapids toppled East-leading Montreal last week, and will look to beat the Red Bulls, currently 2nd in the East, tonight. New York has a history of struggling in Colorado, with their last win there coming in 2007.

In Texas, FC Dallas will look to keep Chivas USA’s winless ways going when the Goats visit Frisco. Blas Perez salvaged a road point for FCD with a stoppage time equalizer last weekend, and will look to punish a Chivas USA defense that still won’t have newly-signed Carlos Bocanegra.

The third and final match on the 4th of July schedule features the Los Angeles Galaxy taking on the Columbus Crew. The Galaxy suffered a heart-breaking loss to San Jose last weekend, and Robbie Keane will look to make up for the absence of Landon Donovan, who is with the U.S. Gold Cup team. The Crew have had their share of struggles lately, but they remain a dangerous team, with Federico Higuain back to his goal-producing ways.

If you will be watching tonight’s matches, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

Enjoy the action.

  2. just got back from the USMNT training in SD. absolutely saw who JK is planning on starting.

    Rimando

    Parkhurst, Gooch, Goodson, Beasley

    LD, Torres, Beckerman, Castillo

    Gomez, Wondo

i will say, Gooch and Fiscal switched back and forth with what had to be the first team. Corona also got in on that squad as well.

Parkhurst honestly looked bad. confidence, p@ssing, crossing, etc. was just lacking noticeably. Gooch looked sharp though. including on offense where him and Goodson were finishing like strikers in one drill. Gooch arguably had the best finish of the practice with a great volley. also, even stranger, at the end of the practice, Gooch was practicing free kicks with Torres. which was comical because JK was providing the touch as Gooch ran up on it and JK kept hitting it too far and Gooch kept being like, “no, here” and pointing to the ground.

Shea honestly looked great. you can tell he is a good player out there. which was surprising because he honestly looked as good as we want him to be. noticeable difference between him and other players. Corona looked good as well. Torres looked sharp and showed some good skills

all of the strikers didn’t really impress. LD was by far the most clinical out of the bunch both up top and on the wing. but each striker had at least one quality finish. Bedoya, who never put on the jersey for what was clearly the 1st team, did pretty well. scored a goal during the 10v8 when he was on the team with 8. granted, Hamid did absolutely awful with it.

keepers all looked on point though.

    • Nice to hear Shea was looking good, hopefully he can carry that over to stoke’s preseason and earn a good spot on the team.

As far as Pankhurst goes, I hope Beltran gets the nod over him.

Any comments on how mix Diskerud or jack McInerney looked?

      • yeah man, i hope so. Mix looked fine and was playing next to Holden with Corona in front of them in the 10v8 drill. Jack Mac looked ok, but honestly none of the strikers really did a ton. so he didn’t look any worse than Bruin, Gomez, or Wondo.

Beltran i honestly didn’t even focus on. not sure how he looked.
