As a man who deals with these type of guys this is marketed too on a daily basis, i find this to be hilarious and genius!! And its airing during sunday night football makes it double genius!!!
Hilarious. For a follow-up, they should have him asking about Dempsey. “Where’s that good oil’ boy from Nagadoches y’all were tellin’ me about? Clint somethin’? Yeah, maybe he’ll unnerstan what I’m talkin’ about. What? He got transferred? What is this, IBM?”
I found it a little offensive until the parts when Sudekis was just riffing and improv-ing next to the players running drills around him. You could see a hint of smile on some of their faces. I bet he was cracking them up. That’s when I started seeing it as comic brilliance.
And, really, my guess is that this isn’t totally marketed to the current fan anyhow. If this makes fans of other sports laugh, then maybe it breaks down some walls and divisions to make soccer more accessible to them.
You’re not trapping me! It’s not about accuracy, it was that things were pointed out that didn’t have to be mentioned. They also were the only NFL team mentioned, so it was hating. On the other hand, that also let’s you know how relevant the Cowboys still are for the league that they get the only mention…
With the money splashed on this commercial, NBC Sports could have put a good dent in purchasing Special One TV. Instant credibility amongst fans of the Premier League. Instead we get this.
I thought the same thing, would have been too easy to insert a Deuce joke in there (he comes to practice in football pads or something), especially since the promo is for the US audience.
Wonder if NBC asked and Spurs said no, knowing that he was on his way out.
but i want him to stay. Dempsey+Spurs was a beautiful combination

Tom Hicks and George Gillett were the producers of this ad for NBC.
Wait, wasn’t that Gus Johnson’s story?
I didn’t really find it too funny but I do agree that this type of marketing effort is genius by NBC
funny
‘pick up the ball, pick up the ball with your hands…that is a VIOlation’
I was completely on board until he took those cheep shots at my Cowboys…
So which assessment of the cowboys did you find to be inaccurate? 😉

This was brilliant.
People need to lighten up.
If you don’t find this funny, you’re a miserable person.
Wales is another country? Yes and no.
Anyone else notice that Szczesny had a least 5 goals in FIFA?
Own goals to run up the score so that it read 11-0, Totts.
Own goals.
walcott scored at the wrong end too
“My job just got a whole lot easier. No play-offs, and tie games?”
Best line. Also “Why do you guys even bother to do this?”
Hysterical
+1000000 that line was brilliant. Im still laughing
Circle em up.
Have em put on their pads.
…let’s play for real.
Haha.
this was awesome.
‘wales? that another country?’
‘yes and no.’
-how many countries are in this country?
-4.
That made me laugh out loud

I sent this to my American football friends. They all thought it was hilarious. Wait a second… they MARKETED ME!!!
I didn’t know Ben Olsen got the spurs job…
He lasted longer than AVB did at Chelsea!
Wow. Way to feed the stereotypes.
Oh come on. It makes as much fun of people who know nothing about soccer. This is lighthearted and funny.
Time to get you funny sensor replaced. This was hilarious!
