The UCLA Bruins will field a very young team this season, and with the best recruiting class in the nation stepping in, the Bruins enter the season with high expectations.
Those young Bruins won’t have much time to adapt to the college game, but they will certainly face some brutal early tests, as match-ups vs. No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 3 Indiana await this weekend in Bloomington, Indiana. The SBI No. 5 Bruins have a chance to start the season off in strong fashion, but freshman like Nathan Smith and Michael Amick will be under pressure right from the start of the 2013 campaign.
The opening weekend of the college season is loaded with juicy match-ups across the country, including some featuring title favorites Maryland and Georgetown, who have traveled cross-country to face off against a pair of tough Pac-12 opponents. The No. 1 Terrapins face No. 19 Stanford tonight before taking on No. 27 California on Sunday, while the Hoyas meet Cal tonight before clashing with Stanford on Sunday.
One of the more intriguing opening matches of the weekend features No. 15 Louisville traveling to Charlottesville to take on No. 16 Virginia.
