After almost three weeks away on vacation, The SBI Show is back with plenty to talk about in the American Soccer world.
Co-host Garrett Cleverly and I break down the USMNT roster announced for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers vs. Costa Rica and Mexico. We look at the players brought in, as well as those who missed the cut.
We also discuss the recent major signings in MLS, such as Landon Donovan and Omar Gonzalez inking new Designated Player deals. We also take a closer look at MLS Week 27, and the top match-ups of the weekend.
We also wrap the show up with the latest SBI Show Q&A, and also discuss the start of the college soccer season.
Give Episode 65 of The SBI Show a listen after the jump:

What did you think of the show? Impressed with the USMNT roster? Still surprised at the money the Galaxy spent on Omar Gonzalez? Who do you see winning the big Portland-RSL and Sporting KC-Colorado match-ups?

Ives – why am i the only one baffled about kljestan. objectively a better player than beckerman and diskerud
1 start in 2 years under JK
jones looking less and less like a lock by the day – his playing time at schalke is potentially under serious threat this season by the emergence of marco hoger.
even if jones retains his spot with US you will need a #3 CM
that being said, beckerman and diskerud are options, but kljestan is not?
because they looked pretty good in gold cup? is this really the rational? you really think diskerud has earned is place on this team, when you consider he has averaged 57 minutes a game over the last 17 in norway (26 in uefa coefficient) and to boot, does not produce offensively (0 goals, 1 assists in that time) – obviously we can all agree that if you are not a defensive player, scoring and assisting on goals is at least PART of the job description
meanwhile kljestan continues to produce, and go 90 min, as he has done the last 2 years for a uefa coefficient top 40 / UCL team – 3 goals in last 4 just his most recent contribution.
would love to hear a little more in-depth discussion about sacha – maybe before of after 1st UCL matches. i dont see how this is not viewed as a MAJOR snub – and has been this entire cycle (after starting 18 games under BB)
also, why is edgar castillo on this roster? how bout just replace castillo with kljestan – with fabian and beasley covering LB (even if you start fabian at LM)?
SK hasn’t really done much when give the ops with the USMNT. Granted he had one of his better appearances with his last at bat.
is that you ives?
So pumped I get to listen to this on my commute home! It’s been painful the last few weeks without weekly SBI shows! Glad to have you fellas back!
It’s great to have the two of you back. Excellent show, and although I may be in the minority on this, I love the long shows. It could be 2 hours and I would be cool with listening that long on a consistent basis…
Garrett, can you EVER get through an episode without referring to how “hipster” you are? How about a ban on the word “hipster” from the SBI Show…
I love the sh1t talking about wearing a John Terry jersey. Even a Chelsea fan wouldnt want to wear it. I’m a Yankees fan and I wouldnt put on an A-rod jersey…or a Clemens jersey… or a Hideki Irabu jersey.
Yaaay. A new SBI show.
1.5 hours is a bit excessive. make it 20-30 minutes.
I agree, but since this is the first show in 3 weeks I’m okay with it this time.
No need to say that the WCQ “cap-tie” Johannsson. He is tied to the US from now on, even if he never steps on the field for the US again.
You should probably listen to the show again.
SO happy to have this back.
