Liga MX Round 7: A Look Ahead

Morelia1-ClubAmerica (Mexsport)

By DAN KARELL

Two of Mexico’s strongest teams early on in the 2013 Apertura campaign face one another on Saturday, highlighting a strong weekend of Liga MX action.

Club America and Monarcas Morelia have traded blows before, but the latter side will have a tough test when they face America at Estadio Azteca. Morelia still lead the Apertura table after six rounds, despite drawing last Saturday. The Eagles on the other hand have two games in hand but have yet to lose this season, recording their fourth win in a row against Pachuca last round.

Santos Laguna travel north to face Club Tijuana at the Estadio Caliente on Friday night. It was supposed to be the first chance that Xolos forward Herculez Gomez would play his former side, however his knee injury late this summer scuppered that opportunity. Club Leon vs. Monterrey and Toluca vs. Veracruz are two other matches this weekend to keep an eye on.
