A few of the top teams on the planet will battle it out on American soil on a Saturday filled with action from all over the world.

Spanish giants Real Madrid take on Tim Howard and English Premier League side Everton in a nationally-televised International Champions Cup match from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. After opening wins in the preseason tournament, new managers Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto Martinez will look to push their talented squads to Wednesday’s title match in Miami.

The clubs that fell to Real Madrid and Everton in the first round, the Los Angeles Galaxy and Juventus, will also be in action on Saturday night. The Italian champions are looking to bounce back from their shootout loss to Everton on Wednesday with a win over the hometown Galaxy, who lost 3-1 to Real on Thursday.

For regular season action outside of MLS, fans can tune into a solid lineup of matches from Liga MX. Surprise early-season leaders Veracruz host traditional powers Cruz Azul, and defending champions Club America take on Atlas.

  1. Well now Aron has scored. Given, it was on an incredibly unconvincing penalty. GK knocked it off the post but it went in anyway

  2. Morelia-Tijuana 8pm ET on Azteca America could also be an interesting LigaMX game. Aside from the Americans playing for Xolos, there is the contrast in styles, Morelia is a fairly attacking team that defends poorly, and Tijuana has been more conservative as befits a team not far removed from promotion.

  3. Do these 2nd divisions normally start this early or are they just doing that this year so their 46 game schedule(!) doesn’t interfere with the world cup?

  4. Alfredo Morales is starting for FC Ingolstadt and Andrew Wooten is starting for Kaiserlautern both teams are up 2-0 at half in the DFB Pokal. No Fabian Johnson for Hoffenheim.

  5. Danny Williams starting on the bench for Reading. Tim Ream also spent the afternoon on the bench in Bolton’s 1-1 draw.

      • Eh… Lichaj’s made a solid move to a Championship squad where he’ll be starting, so hopefully he’ll get himself back in the picture. There were certainly times last year (and this) where the USMNT could have used Lichaj, but Klinsmann hasn’t bothered calling him in. To be fair, he had an up and down season.

That said, Lichaj has physical tools that players like Brad Evans and Michael Parkhurst don’t have. Evans has pulled off some Herculean feats for the Nats lately, and I love him as a player. I am worried about seeing him go up against world-class opposition, though.

      • Speaking of Lichaj… went the distance in a 1-0 shutout for Nottingham Forest against Huddersfield Town today.

  6. who holds the US broadcast rights for the English League Championship? I was looking at fox soccer’s tv listings for the next few weeks, and since NBC now has the EPL rights and BeINSport has Ligue1 and La Liga, Fox soccer has Champions league, FA cup, and women’s soccer (uugghhhh). I don’t see how fox soccer is going to draw any ratings at all
