Early Friday morning, rumors began spreading at first across Europe, and next, the world, about the future of Colombian forward Radamel Falcao.

Falcao was acquired this summer by big-spending Ligue 1 side AS Monaco for upwards of €60 million, reportedly, but the rumors were saying that tax disagreements between the club and France’s league governing body meant that Falcao was set for a quick exit.

Monaco have now quashed any rumors of such a departure, posting on their official Twitter feed that Falcao has a five-year contract and will remain a Monaco player. It’s not the first time that the 27-year-old has been the subject of wild rumors. Last month there were rumors that he was actually two years older than he said, though the club and player both denied those stories.

In Monaco’s first match of the season, Falcao scored for the club in a 2-0 victory.

Here are some more stories to catch you up around the world:

Despite signing Edinson Cavani, the French club are still interested in adding to their squad as they look to build of last season’s domestic title and fight for a European crown.

Khedira is reportedly under contract at the Bernabeu through 2015, and took part in the club’s two-week tour of the USA in August.

  1. I doubt Falcao is there for his entire contract but I would be shocked to see him move again this summer. Also if he goes to Real there would be an investigation into the whole dealing for sure.
