By DAN KARELL

While Eddie Johnson and Clint Dempsey are away on international duty, Lamar Neagle moved forward in the lineup and put in two quality performances for the Seattle Sounders.

Neagle scored the game’s only goal on Wednesday in a 1-0 defeat of Chivas USA as well as scoring the game-tying goal plus setting up the eventual game-winner in the Sounders 2-1 defeat of the Chicago Fire on Saturday. Neagle’s performance on this week earned him SBI MLS Player of the Week honors.

Neagle beat out Thierry Henry, Diego Valeri, and Hassoun Camara for this week’s honor.

What did you think of Neagle’s performance? Which player stood out to you in MLS Week 28?

  1. Montreal has been very good this year, no doubt, but $50k salary for Lamar Neagle, are you kidding me ?

Sign him up. Done. What were they thinking ?

What they should be thinking is Seattle just passed us in the standings, because we let Seattle have Neagle. When Montreal loses MLS Cup because Seattle has homefield, the final nail will be driven whether Neagle even plays or not.

  2. Neagle has been awesome for Seattle in the June and September international breaks.

He’s on $48K/year. Think he’s in line for a raise, think other teams will be interested in him. Seattle’s offseason will be fun.

    • Seattle’s offseason will be brutal. Neagle in line for raise, and so is EJ. However little people think of his “pay me” stunt, fact is that he does in fact need to be paid more. We will lose some depth this winter.

      • With Mauro Rosales rumored to be going back to Argentina to finish his career, they’ll find the cap space.

      • Id be mildly surprised if EJ is back in Seattle next year. I think he will try to get DP money and Seattle wont want to do that, you cant really wrap up all 3 DP spots with 3 strikers.

      • EJ is not worthy of DP status. If anyone in MLS wants to give him that, more power to them. He deserves a healthy raise, but not DP….Deuce is not what I’d consider a striker but I see your point. An attacking ball control midfielder would be ideal, maybe Oba? Ozzie can’t do it all, right?…;^)
