A year ago, at around this same time, Robbie Keane began a run of form that dominated MLS and helped propel the Los Angeles Galaxy to the MLS Cup title. The Irish striker appears to be right back at it again, playing so well that opposing defenses just can’t deal with him.
Keane delivered two goals and an assist in the Galaxy’s 3-0 rout of the San Jose Earthquakes, a performance that made him our pick for SBI MLS Player of the Week.
Keane beat out a strong list of candidates that included Erick Torres and Joao Plata for this week’s honors.
What did you think of Keane’s performance? What player impressed you the most in MLS this past weekend? See Keane leading the Galaxy to a third straight MLS Cup title?

it’s the weather. The irishmen doesn’t enjoy the heat, once that starts to subside, he’s banging on all cylinders…..
That can’t be true since it was boiling in LA over the weekend.
I had my money on Plata, but I’m biased. The first 30 minutes of the RSL-Portland game was the best soccer I’ve ever seen RSL play. A pleasure to watch.
When he and LD are firing on all cylinders, there isn’t a combo in the league as entertaining to watch. Both are in another class in MLS when it comes to imagination and quickness of thought and the technical ability execute. Keane’s control in tight space and Donovan’s speed are a pretty deadly combination to try and defend. Loved the play on Landon’s goal where he came blazing through the midfield on a 40 yd run with Keane holding the ball…. waited until the last second and casually chipped a perfectly weighted ball over the back line and right in LD’s path to goal. Nice…
Yeah, those two together are pretty damn tight.
Well deserved. Nobody dives like Robbie.
He doesn’t even make my top five list for divers. There are worse culprits in that category.
Dive? Are you referring to the foul that resulted in the penalty? That wasn’t Robbie. Zardes, IIRC. But it was a pretty soft foul, I thought. And I’m a Gals fan.
