For the third time in four games, Brian Bliss’ Columbus Crew team ran out winners, and last Saturday, Wil Trapp was a major reason why.

Though he didn’t score, Trapp was effective as a holding midfielder, breaking up play to allow his Crew to cruise to an easy 3-0 victory over the Chicago Fire. Trapp’s performance was enough to earn him SBI MLS Rookie of the Week honors.

Trapp beat out teammate Chad Barson, Andrew Farrell, DeAndre Yedlin, and Dillon Powers for this week’s honors.

What did you think of Trapp’s performance? Which rookie stood out to you in MLS Week 30?

    • While I didn’t watch his performance during the U20 WC earlier this year, based on the comments on this website Trapp just wasn’t very good. It is great to see him do well with his club team and hopefully he’ll continue to develop and improve. My guess is that he was omitted from the 24under24 list since he hadn’t played any minutes with the Crew.
