Off to their worst start since winning the 2012 Apertura, Club Tijuana hope to put their season back on track as we reach the halfway point of the 2013 Liga MX Apertura season.
Xolos face promoted side Veracruz at the Estadio Caliente on Saturday, with both teams struggling to score goals recently. Xolos allowed Duvier Riascos to leave, but his replacement, Herculez Gomez, has been injured since the summer. Fellow new striker Dario Benedetto scored a hat-trick in his first match but hasn’t found the scoresheet since.
Meanwhile on the other side of the field, Veracruz have not won in their last four games, with three draws, one loss, and only two goals scored in that span. Prior to that, Veracruz playmaker Angel Reyna had been the hottest scorer in the league, scoring seven times in his team’s first four matches to send Veracruz to the league’s summit at the time.
Elsewhere in Liga MX, fourth-place Toluca host sixth-place Cruz Azul, Chivas travel to Tigres UANL, and Club America host Monterrey.
