Torres opens Tigres UANL scoring account in Copa MX loss

At long last, Jose Torres has his first goal with Tigres UANL.

Torres scored for the first time since joining Tigres in late 2012 in the club’s 3-2 Copa MX loss to Santos Laguna on Tuesday night. The┬áveteran midfielder struck a beauty to spur a comeback attempt for Tigres, collecting a loose ball before dribbling forward and hitting a shot from around the edge of the penalty area into the top corner of the far post in the 41st minute.

Torres’ goal, while coming in a losing effort, will help his case as he looks to earn a call-up to the U.S. Men’s National Team’s final two World Cup qualifiers next month. Torres was with the Americans for this month’s 2-0 qualifying win over Mexico at Crew Stadium, but did not feature in the match.

Here is the goal (at the 1:05 mark):

What do you think of Torres’ goal? Think he should be called in for the U.S. Men’s National Team’s qualifiers next month?
