College Soccer Weekend Rewind

It’s fitting that in a match between two of the top teams in the nation, the game would end in a stalemate.

The No. 2 Washington Huskies scored off a corner kick in the 85th minute to preserve a 1-1 draw with the top-ranked California Golden Bears at Edwards Field in Berkeley, California.

Conner Hallisey gave Cal a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute, as he fired a free kick from 30 yards away to beat Huskies redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Herman. However, with five minutes remaining in regulation time, Huskies senior defender Taylor Peay converted a header taken by sophomore midfielder James Moberg to level the scoreline. The draw keeps both Pac-12 powers undefeated midway through the season.

Dayton, lurking just outside the latest SBI College Top 25, prevailed against Incarnate Word 3-2 in double overtime. Senior Andres Acevedo scored his first goal of the season in the 107th minute as the Flyers enter Atlantic 10 with an unblemished 10-0-0 mark.

  1. Wish we could see some College Soccer on tv. Last year games were on CBSSN and ESPNU. Now they only show Women’s College Soccer.
