  1. Good show. First time I got a question answered, so I appreciated that. Also have to say that I agree re the first match tonight, unfortunately for Colorado supporters. But even if the finish ends up being sour like that, it was quite the reinvigorating year for them with all the good youth coming on and a couple of key signings and the system coming together under Pareja. Lots to look forward to next year.

  2. A lot of individuals always say the people who vote for MVP don’t watch that many games. Who are these people? Why are they voting? Is there any merit to those claims?

    • I’ve been in this biz for a long time and know for a fact that there are quite simply a lot of people who vote for awards who don’t watch many MLS matches. Not saying it’s all or most, but enough where you wind up with a distorted voting block. Fact is not everyone can commit the time it takes to watch multiple games a week. A lot of beat writers only focus on the team they cover, and may watch one other game a week if they’re lucky. There are also soccer writers who only very casually follow MLS but then vote on these season-long awards. It’s been happening for years and will always happen.

  3. Before I even listen to this, I’m glad to see it’s an hour long. Don’t kowtow to people who want a shorter show! If they don’t have time to listen to the whole thing, they don’t have to. Meanwhile, the rest of us want as much as we can get. I go way back with this site, and all those years Ives was talking about a podcast, I never thought about it all that seriously… now that we have it, it’s become an indispensable part of my week.
