The U.S. Men’s National Team takes on Jamaica today at Sporting Park in Kansas City in World Cup qualifying (6:30pm, ESPN), and while the Americans have already qualified, there is still plenty on the line.

Jurgen Klinsmann has called in a full-strength squad to take on Jamaica in the last USMNT home qualifier of the Hexagonal Round of qualifying. The Americans are a perfect 4-0 at home this round, and will look to maintain their hold atop the qualifying group with a victory.

Jamaica is technically still alive in qualifying, but will need a miracle to climb out of the basement.

Here is SBI’s preview of tonight’s match.

  1. whats up with Jozy not celebrating any goals? Is he on some sort of protest? He’s been doing that a lot lately.

  2. Castillo lays it off to Jozy for his goalz. While Castillo’s errant passes make me cringe, would like o see him in WC squad for an attacking option off the bench.

  3. You can see giant divots in the pitch. Why is this field so poor? Is it always so poor? This is terrible and a huge advantage for Jamaica.

  4. Jermaine Jones doesn’t look right. He’s not playing bad, not playing good..
I bet his knee is worse than he’s let on
    He just doesn’t look right

  6. Can we pleez see Geoff Cameron in the second half at right back, his club position. Evans is a midfielder, not a right back, and it is showing.

Will say that the Reggae Boyz are looking good with their new German coach. They are technically very good.

    • Horrible! Absolutely. This diamond should be working, but it’s all off because Diskerud and Jones aren’t there.

    • Yes, much worse than usual, though ditto for LD, Mixx and Bedoya. Most of the team has been downright sloppy. The pitch is apparently horrible but even so, they should be much cleaner.

    • Yeah you have to think Beasley will get gased chasing the Jamaicans so Castillo will come on. Orozco might come on for Evans as well.

  7. I like the line up however for me the biggest question will be how Jones handles this roll. Many times we’ve seen him roam and really get over run in the midfield when he has to drop in deeper to start the attack. I hope Kljestan gets some minutes and perhaps Boyd in the second half.

  8. Roger Espinoza and Izaguirre are both beasts, I have to say. Honduras just needs an in form Bengston and they’ll do some damage.

Maybe Houston can swing a trade for Bengston. You’d have to think they’d do some damage with him, Oscar Boniek Garcia and Alex Lopez on the field

  9. You have to love what Klinsi is doing with this lineup. Compared to the days of Danny Williams on the wing, this is so much more fun.

    • Agreed. This is pretty much what i wanted to see… I wonder how much is experimental in the sense that if the opponent was panama or the WC still to be played for, would be different.

  10. Glad to see AJ in the line up. He an Altidore looked so good together last time. This will give us a chance to see if that was a one time event.
